We had a wonderful time eating lunch today at Chicken Pub. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful. I asked what menu item was most popular. The response was sweet and spicy chicken. My husband I ordered a half order of the sweet and spicy chicken, and a lunch portion of the fried rice with shrimp and bacon. The food arrived in less than ten minutes – and it was delicious! We were happy with our experience and definitely plan to return again some day.

I checked this place out since everyone has been raving about and sad to say I was disappointed I ordered the sweet & spicy and the soy garlic, and it was mostly batter. there was hardly any chicken in each piece. Also the two flavors tasted the same, I feel like there was really no difference in flavor. it was busy though so I don’t know if they just threw all the orders together or if it was just an off day?… but I’ll def give it another go and hopefully it’s as yummy as all the reviews I’ve read

Today we stopped for an oil change. We brought our own oil and filter and we were charged 20,000 won for the service. While our car was in the air the guys did an inspection. We were shown how our tire had a split on the inside wall and the steel belts were visible. We were pleasantly surprised when we were told that we would have two new tires in about 40 minutes! We are so grateful that they did a good look over of our car. We are supposed to head to 121 tomorrow and our trip could have been disastrous. We are grateful for the terrific service. The staff speaks English. The tire prices were higher than Tire rack; but considering the circumstances, we did not mind.

Shout out for Mobile One. My alternator went out on my truck. I drove it home ordered a new from Autozone and received it in a little over a week. Made an appointment at Mobile One to install it and my battery died just as I cleared Pangseong Bridge. I thought here’s a towing charge, my wife picked up the owner and he showed up with a battery and jumper cables. He set the battery on the passenger seat floor put the battery cable through the side window and under the hood to my dead battery. He then just started my car drove to the garage, I was amazed, good guy speaks English like a native.

He is great. Went to get our oil changed and he told my husband the oil would be cheaper on post, to go and get it and bring it back. He even told us whoever did the last oil change (which was Walmart) messed up something when they changed it last. Then my husband went to get our blinker bulb replaced and thought they took debit as payment, but they don’t. He didn’t have won so the guy told him they were about to close and it was Saturday to just bring it to him on Monday. Super nice guy!

Korea Frying serves Americanized Korean food in the ville of Camp Humphreys. The food is pretty good, even if it has been tweaked a bit to suit American tastes. The restaurant is casual and the service or both eat in and delivery has always been great, they really want to make sure you are happy. We usually get delivery from Korea Frying and are always happy with our food. Korea frying is also cheap, with prices ranging from W3,000 to W10,000 and free delivery. Some of our favorite foods include the yaki mandu, spicy pork with rice, galbi, bibimbap and kimbap.

Cucumber kimchi and seaweed packets are free with your meal, they also pack chopsticks and spoons for you.

Italian and Korean. I so cheated on our diet by eating here, but it was worth it. I would say kid friendly, casual attire works I was in yoga pants . Prices $10-$20 and they have wine that ranges from $4-$6 a glass.

I really enjoyed it. It was like a little taste of my favorite restaurant back home, Carrabbas. I had the spaghetti meat sauce and my husband had the chicken fettuccine both were really good but I did like his better. I’m even thinking about having them cater a major event in the fall.

We liked it too! Spaghetti was good, I had risotto and hubby had alfredo. All very yummy.

I LOVE the bacon risotto. Delicious!

The Indian selections that we chose were rice dishes. One was Bacon, the other was chicken. I have never had Indian food prepared in this manner, so perhaps it is more fusion It was really good though and only 7,000 won. There was extra olive oil on the plate that was served under the rice, regardless, I would order the rice again. The other dish was Fettuccine Alfredo. I do not know if it came with the pepper on it or if my daughter added it. It was very creamy and cost 9,900 won. The garlic bread was 1,000 won for 2 pieces; however, we were given 4 pieces. There is a private room in back.

Cheong Hae Jin

Directions: To get to Cheong Hae Jin leave the main gate of Camp Humphreys turning directly right, when you reach a gas station to your left, then turn left. Go past the gas station and the restaurant will be on your left.

Some of the most wonderful fish I’ve ever had, just beautifully cooked to perfection on a charcoal grill. A great variety of really good banchan as well. My kids loved it, as well. The fish does have bones in, so make sure your children know how to eat bone in fish or be prepared to spend time removing the bones for them. There are two rooms with 2-4 tables in each room, one traditionally korean and one western style.

Posted by Chris Fletcher: I’d heard from two individuals that it was good but I was disappointed. I thought the fish was too dry. For a better place try the Yongtan fish alley near Dongdaemun in Seoul.

Bakery Harue is a local Paengsong bakery. I’ve been happy with everything I’ve bought there you can buy a fresh loaf of bread and they will slice it for you, it smells and taste so good! They have some great savory breads and sweets and cakes and milk and drinks. The workers are very friendly and they will usually throw in a small free treat for my kids. They also serve bingsu in the summer.

Originally posted by Emily Cleaver: I can vouch for this place, it’s awesome! Way tastier and a lot cheaper than Paris Baguette or Tous le Jour. I go here at least three times a week on my way to school.

Gps to Beans and Vine coffee and wine shop in Paengsong near Lotteria: http://maps.google.com/?q=36.9655,127.06216

This was a cute little coffee shop with a very quite atmosphere and a friendly woman on staff. The menu is all in Korean. I thought the prices were a bit lower than most other coffee shops. We ordered the waffle, which was smaller than most places but good and a lemon ice tea for the kids to split which they enjoyed. I ordered a mint chocolate frappachino which was amazing. I’m pretty sure they also serve wine.

Yum! Waffle, lemon tea and mint chocolate frappechino!

Originally posted by Becky Phillips: The water cups/mugs are made by the matriarch in the family. The ladies were very helpful to show you how to combine different side dishes to make things taste their best. And the best part is the complimentary cinnamon “tea” slushy. The prices are the similar to Hwa Hwa restaurant, but I think the portions are bigger at Arirang.

Originally posted by Chris Wilson:I took my family here last night. The place is clean, food was good and it is run by a nice and friendly family. Mr. Kim the owner gave us a small tour of the place and it’s history. With the exception of the train passing, it is relatively quiet and not as loud and busy as Hwa Hwa.

Originally posted by Marrissa Stumpf: Went here this afternoon for lunch, very good! And the cinnamon slushy was awesome!!

From meWe tried it tonight and were very, very satisfied! The food was so good! Especially the veal in a fruity sweet and sour sauce and the crispy rib-eye. There was a LOT of banchan and it was amazing. We also had a bean-paste tofu soup that was spicy and delicious and a boiled egg dish that the kids liked. The cinnamon tea slush was delicious as well. Their service was perfect, a million times better than Hwa Hwa. Mr.Kim, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating and the waitresses were all happy and smiling and quick. They also have party rooms available for larger groups. All in all a very pleasant meal and I plan to go back often. There was no wait when we walked in at 8pm.

Originally posted by Princess Lia:We went here about a week ago and the owner was as gracious and friendly as could be. The banchan were great and the pottery was beautiful. I’m just finding that I prefer my galbi cooked over an open flame and this restaurant uses a pan BBQ so the meat is much different when cooked (as compared to places like Hwa Hwa or OK). Not bad…just different. All in all, a great evening and good food.

Originally posted by Kathy Stange Rauch: We tried this place for the first time last night. It was GREAT! We like the pan because you can cook the garlic and not have it fall into the fire. lol I ordered Mul Naeng Myun and it was very flavorful. The pork belly was tender. They served the meat with the typical Korean “samjeong” sauce and also a sweet chili sauce. The staff was friendly and not pushy. The tables have call buttons also. We will go back.

My kids ordered an ice cream dish to share that had fruit on it. The dessert was very tasty and cost 3,500 won. Two family members ordered Bubble Tea but they were NOT impressed. I was happy to find a neat option for coffee locally, but I doubt I will go back. The park across the street makes for a neat place to hang out with the kids. There is a C+U practically next door where you can buy inexpensive ice creams for the kids while you enjoy a coffee. The seating in this cafe is terrific. There is even a HUGE U shaped booth for groups. The menu is totally in Korean and the staff speaks very little English. They do serve food meals at this place, but I did not try any of them.

I have been to Kaffa several times in the past few weeks and have found it very pleasant on each occasion. They now have a handwritten menu in english, which is helpful. I’ve had the iced mocha with yummy whipped cream, honey bread, an affogato and a bingsu. The bingsu is smaller and can be a single serving compared to the big bowl most places give you. All were delicious.
