You can usually hear the dogs when you’re close.

Price:You must order at least one drink. Drinks are around W6,000.

It’s very similar to the cat cafés that people are familiar with, only dogs! There are dogs that live there, and it’s also BYOD (bring your own dog). We saw both big and small dogs, but they must be/are all vaccinated. You have to order at least one drink – they have a selection of iced teas, smoothies, and basic coffees – around $6. The drinks are ok, but let’s face it, we’re not really there for the beverages. They have snack items like muffins and pretzels, and they have some dog supplies for sale as well. Honestly, I enjoyed it more than the one in Myeongdong.

Food’s fairly priced and portions are big, especially the salad. We liked it.

We tried this place but there was only fish, tofu, rice and side dishes when we went. Don’t think we would give it another shot but good luck to anybody who does!

We had a wonderful time eating lunch today at Chicken Pub. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful. I asked what menu item was most popular. The response was sweet and spicy chicken. My husband I ordered a half order of the sweet and spicy chicken, and a lunch portion of the fried rice with shrimp and bacon. The food arrived in less than ten minutes – and it was delicious! We were happy with our experience and definitely plan to return again some day.

I checked this place out since everyone has been raving about and sad to say I was disappointed I ordered the sweet & spicy and the soy garlic, and it was mostly batter. there was hardly any chicken in each piece. Also the two flavors tasted the same, I feel like there was really no difference in flavor. it was busy though so I don’t know if they just threw all the orders together or if it was just an off day?… but I’ll def give it another go and hopefully it’s as yummy as all the reviews I’ve read

Korea Frying

Hours: 11:00am – Midnight

Korea Frying serves Americanized Korean food in the ville of Camp Humphreys. The food is pretty good, even if it has been tweaked a bit to suit American tastes. The restaurant is casual and the service or both eat in and delivery has always been great, they really want to make sure you are happy. We usually get delivery from Korea Frying and are always happy with our food. Korea frying is also cheap, with prices ranging from W3,000 to W10,000 and free delivery. Some of our favorite foods include the yaki mandu, spicy pork with rice, galbi, bibimbap and kimbap.

Here we ordered the Galbi (in the biggest box, it comes with lettuce to wrap the meat), the yaki mandu, kimbap, steamed rice, sweet and sour pork (bottom right hand corner) and spicy pork and rice (top right hand corner). Cucumber kimchi and seaweed packets are free with your meal, they also pack chopsticks and spoons for you.

I was excited about trying this place. They sell hamburgers but the buns are rice patties and the beef is something other than beef. I ordered their “popular” item. It was a spam, tuna, kimchi, cheese (anti)burger between rice patties. It’s a novel idea that just didn’t work.

Cheong Hae Jin

Directions: To get to Cheong Hae Jin leave the main gate of Camp Humphreys turning directly right, when you reach a gas station to your left, then turn left. Go past the gas station and the restaurant will be on your left.

Some of the most wonderful fish I’ve ever had, just beautifully cooked to perfection on a charcoal grill. A great variety of really good banchan as well. My kids loved it, as well. The fish does have bones in, so make sure your children know how to eat bone in fish or be prepared to spend time removing the bones for them. There are two rooms with 2-4 tables in each room, one traditionally korean and one western style.

Posted by Chris Fletcher: I’d heard from two individuals that it was good but I was disappointed. I thought the fish was too dry. For a better place try the Yongtan fish alley near Dongdaemun in Seoul.

Originally posted by Becky Phillips: The water cups/mugs are made by the matriarch in the family. The ladies were very helpful to show you how to combine different side dishes to make things taste their best. And the best part is the complimentary cinnamon “tea” slushy. The prices are the similar to Hwa Hwa restaurant, but I think the portions are bigger at Arirang.

Originally posted by Chris Wilson:I took my family here last night. The place is clean, food was good and it is run by a nice and friendly family. Mr. Kim the owner gave us a small tour of the place and it’s history. With the exception of the train passing, it is relatively quiet and not as loud and busy as Hwa Hwa.

Originally posted by Marrissa Stumpf: Went here this afternoon for lunch, very good! And the cinnamon slushy was awesome!!

From meWe tried it tonight and were very, very satisfied! The food was so good! Especially the veal in a fruity sweet and sour sauce and the crispy rib-eye. There was a LOT of banchan and it was amazing. We also had a bean-paste tofu soup that was spicy and delicious and a boiled egg dish that the kids liked. The cinnamon tea slush was delicious as well. Their service was perfect, a million times better than Hwa Hwa. Mr.Kim, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating and the waitresses were all happy and smiling and quick. They also have party rooms available for larger groups. All in all a very pleasant meal and I plan to go back often. There was no wait when we walked in at 8pm.

Originally posted by Princess Lia:We went here about a week ago and the owner was as gracious and friendly as could be. The banchan were great and the pottery was beautiful. I’m just finding that I prefer my galbi cooked over an open flame and this restaurant uses a pan BBQ so the meat is much different when cooked (as compared to places like Hwa Hwa or OK). Not bad…just different. All in all, a great evening and good food.

Originally posted by Kathy Stange Rauch: We tried this place for the first time last night. It was GREAT! We like the pan because you can cook the garlic and not have it fall into the fire. lol I ordered Mul Naeng Myun and it was very flavorful. The pork belly was tender. They served the meat with the typical Korean “samjeong” sauce and also a sweet chili sauce. The staff was friendly and not pushy. The tables have call buttons also. We will go back.

Oeam Folk Village and Restaurant

Directions: Take a right out the Camp Humphreys CPX gate and get on 45 towards Asan. When you get to 39, follow it to Oeam Folk Village (there are brown signs).

This is a living history museum with very old homes. Some of the homes are even available for an over-night stay. We visited the Folk village today, then we stopped for dinner by the entry point. We also splurged on coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. It takes about 45 minutes to get there from Camp Humphreys. We were caught in a traffic jam for a few minutes, but coming home the roads were clear. The village cost our family W5,000 to enter. We have 2 kids and 2 adults.

Outside, the tea and coffee shop is on the left. The restaurant is on the right. You can see the noodle image on the window of the restaurant. We enjoyed a seafood pancake, kimchi, and three bowls of noodle soup for 27,000 won at the restaurant. The menu was in Korean, no English was spoken I pointed at the picture of the noodles on the window (5,000 won) and I ordered the bibim-something since I know how to read bibimbap. It was a delicious!! A plate was taken by a young man from an older gentleman to show us the seafood pancake. It turns out the older man was the owner! His photo is on the wall (in black and white). I am so gad we ordered one.
